Board approves retirements, hires and transfers including new elementary hire

The Towanda Area School District board approved a package of personnel actions on Feb. 17. The board accepted the retirement of Technology Teacher Catherine Orshal effective at the end of the 2025–26 school year and recorded several aide resignations with specified effective dates.
On hiring, the board approved Jordan O'Connor as an Elementary Teacher, effective March 2, 2026, at a prorated salary of $70,209 (master's level). The board also approved John B. Sullivan as a Special Education Teacher at the Jr./Sr. High School with a prorated salary of $65,228 and approved the transfer of Eric Lloyd from 4th grade to 6th grade beginning in the 2026–27 school year. Multiple unpaid leave requests and substitute and supplemental contract appointments were included in the approval. Voice vote, all in favor.
