The Towanda Area School District Board of Education approved a set of personnel actions during its March 16 regular session, including retirements, resignations, a support-staff hire and several supplemental coaching contracts.
The board accepted retirements from Rebecca Jene Conklin, an English language arts teacher, effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year, and from aide Faye Cook, effective Feb. 24, 2026. The board also recorded resignations from Melissa Muller (cook's assistant, effective Feb. 25, 2026), Natasha Keeney (aide, effective March 19, 2026), Becca Schoonover (aide, effective March 17, 2026) and Michael Shanks (assistant girls soccer coach, effective March 12, 2026).
As part of the personnel approvals, the board hired Acacia DeLoach as a part-time aide at $22.06 per hour, listed as replacing J. Benjamin. The board approved multiple supplemental coaching contracts with stated supplemental salaries: Kelsea Allen-Smith (JH track coach, $3,000, effective Feb. 16, 2026), Kyle Kunkle (assistant softball coach, temporary, $4,602, effective Feb. 16, 2026), Patrick Davidson (JH softball coach, $3,000, effective Feb. 16, 2026) and Amelia Martin (JH softball assistant, $1,000, effective March 2, 2026). The board also approved a set of unpaid leave requests for several aides covering February–March dates (employees listed by employee number in the agenda). The personnel package was moved by Ashley Popovich and seconded by Brooks Greenland and approved by voice vote, recorded as 7-0-0-2.
The board noted that all personnel actions are pending required documentation. No terminations or new position creations were reported at the meeting.
