Towanda Area SD board creates short-term Dean role, promotes Nate Ross to Jr/Sr HS principal

The Regular Session of the Towanda Area School District Board of Education was called to order by President Matt Tavani at 7:00 PM, and minutes show the board approved a slate of personnel actions on Oct. 21, 2024.
By motion of Matthew Wheeler, seconded by Ashley Popovich, the board approved multiple resignations (including Louise Slater, Aide II; Wesley Slocum, Custodian II; and several others) and support-staff hires. New hires listed in the minutes include Melissa Muller as Cook’s Assistant (part-time, $16.27/hr.), Elizabeth Yale as Aide II (part-time, $19.36/hr.) and Katherine Barto as Custodian II (part-time, $19.23/hr.). The minutes record that the motion passed by voice vote, "all in favor, motion passed 8-0-0-1." (Minutes signed by Shari Williams, Board Secretary.)
The board also approved creating a Dean of Students position with an effective date of Oct. 22, 2024, through June 30, 2025, and approved the transfer of Nate Ross from Assistant Jr/Sr HS Principal to Jr/Sr HS Principal, effective Oct. 22, 2024–June 30, 2025. Supplemental contracts and unpaid leave requests were also recorded and approved as part of the personnel motion. The minutes list the effective dates and stipend/salary amounts where provided.
