Pacific High School chapter of FFA approved by Port Orford-Langlois board

The Port Orford-Langlois School Board unanimously approved a Pacific High School chapter of the National FFA during its Nov. 17 meeting after a presentation by teacher Wendy Tomko.
Tomko described hands-on projects students will run as part of the chapter, saying, "Raising pigs, pig raffle, greenhouse plant sales." Board member Bob Brown moved to approve the application; Judy Miles seconded, and all five board members voted in favor.
The board heard that establishing an FFA chapter will expand students' access to agricultural projects and to grant and scholarship opportunities associated with the organization. The motion carried with no recorded abstentions. The approval was recorded in the meeting minutes and will allow the chapter to begin student activities and fundraising under district oversight.
