During its June 1 meeting the Turkeyfoot Valley Area SD Athletic Committee reviewed proposed revisions to the 2026 Athletic Handbook intended to clarify eligibility, roster thresholds and fundraising procedures.
Committee members discussed specifying the minimum number of players required for a sport to qualify for a paid coach and district-provided transportation. Members recommended adding language explicitly including Jr. High in the handbook. The committee also considered increasing varsity coaching eligibility to require at least four years post-graduation; the minutes state that existing coaches would be grandfathered and remain eligible. A separate handbook change would require fundraising documentation to be submitted when requested in May and that this requirement be highlighted to avoid being overlooked.
The committee did not adopt final language during the meeting; the proposals will be forwarded for further drafting and review before any formal policy change is adopted.
