Survivor Medadia recounts fleeing ISIS and family members taken

Medadia told the audience she lived a "happy life" as a child in her Iraqi village before ISIS swept through and that she fled with family to the mountains. She described being nine years old when fighters separated her family and said she witnessed fighters take her father away.
Asked which relatives remain missing, Medadia named her parents, cousins and a baby brother. Hassan Oswald said the mother had not been pronounced dead and that the film follows leads, but he and Medadia reported there had been no confirmed update on those cases since the film's release in 2024. "My dad and then my mom took and uh Yeah. Um it was horrible," Medadia said, describing the trauma of the separation.
