Riverside Rest Home budget sent forward amid concerns about multi-year losses

Representative Wall, chair of the Riverside Rest Home subcommittee, told the executive committee the subcommittee voted to forward the Riverside budget and commended staff for the facility's quality and infection control practices. She said staffing has been stable, the facility relies less on agency nurses and behavioral-health and hospice capacity has expanded under combined management with Haider House.

Other members pressed for more complete financial documentation. Representative Sal and Representative Kazinski asked that Medicaid cost reports and multi‑year loss figures be included in the minutes and follow-up materials; one representative cited an operated loss figure of $7,165,426 for 2024 and noted repeated losses over the past decade. Members requested clearer comparative cost data to explain why Riverside per-resident costs differ from private facilities and asked for a separate meeting on the nursing-home finances in April to dig into efficiency and revenue alternatives.

The subcommittee did not change the recommendation to forward the budget, but the delegation asked staff to append the requested cost-reporting details to the minutes and to schedule a focused session on long-term care finances.
