Berthoud trustees approve intergovernmental agreements to run Nov. 3, 2026 coordinated election

The Berthoud Board of Trustees unanimously approved intergovernmental agreements with Larimer and Weld counties to conduct the coordinated Nov. 3, 2026 general election and authorized the mayor to execute the agreements on the town’s behalf.

Clerk Samoa, presenting the item, told trustees this was the board’s last opportunity to approve and sign the agreements before the counties’ submission deadline of Aug. 25. "We have just one item regarding the intergovernmental agreements between the town of Berth and Lmer and Weld counties for the conduct of the coordinated November 3rd, 2026 election," she said in the meeting record. She told the board both agreements had been reviewed by legal counsel.

Samoa gave the board cost estimates provided by the counties: a fiscal-impact figure from Larimer County of $31,542.76 and, for Weld County, a flat fee calculated at $2.50 per registered voter (an estimate the clerk described as not more than about $500). She also identified an estimated difference of $23,191.11 between what had already been budgeted and the expected total cost once the coordinated election expenses were included.

Trustee Anderson moved to approve the agreements and authorize the mayor to sign; Trustee Wing seconded. The clerk called a roll and recorded unanimous "yes" votes from the trustees present, and the motion passed.

The board plans to include the additional election-related funds in a supplemental budget appropriation at its Aug. 25 meeting and expects to present certified ballot language for any town ballot question at that meeting as well.
