The board reviewed second readings of several policies that mainly shift scheduling language from semesters to trimesters and make minor wording changes; board members accepted A–D by unanimous voice vote. Separately, the board discussed a substantive update to board policy 528 addressing inappropriate staff relationships. The policy package includes staff training and a new DPI-facing notification process to prevent cases from being swept under the rug.
Board members described the policy as part of a comprehensive approach combining policy revisions and staff training: "It's more of a transparency thing on the DPI end," one board member said, noting the district cannot let staff simply resign and remove records of inappropriate behavior. The board noted a DPI training module was newly released on Friday and that the district will add local training next Monday.
