Board authorizes county administrator to execute RRMM Architects agreement for Fire Station No. 2

County staff recommended awarding the architectural and engineering contract for the Fire Station No. 2 construction project to RRMM Architects PC after a competitive RFP process. "We had an excellent response; 14 proposals submitted," said Mr. Rodney Hathaway, who explained the project will be procured under the construction management at risk method and the selected architect's fee is a not‑to‑exceed $736,943.

A supervisor moved to authorize the county administrator to execute the final agreement in the form approved by the county attorney; the motion passed on a roll call vote. Hathaway told the board the line item for the architect has already been created and the project will be funded primarily from Colonial Downs revenues with some remaining 2016 bond funds applied as needed. The board directed staff to return with contract documents and next steps for procurement of the construction manager.
