Denise Kelly, the district business manager, summarized the district's special revenue funds and grant expectations for 2026–27: Title I (~$1.1 million), Title III (projected ~$43,000), Title II‑A (~$81,000), Measure 98 (~$460,000), the SIA grant (~$1.7 million) and other competitive grants such as early literacy and summer learning requests.
Kelly also described a local fundraising project identified as the "Rocks Basalt Bash," which raised about $75,000 last year and which the district has tentatively budgeted to bring in $180,000–$200,000 if repeated. "They write us a check," Kelly said of the event's benefactors. Staff emphasized that grant budgets are only spent if the funds are received and many have carryover limits or non‑carryover deadlines such as June 30.
The committee discussed how grants are used to staff Title I and SIA positions and how the district shifts positions between general fund and grant funding as program rules change. Staff said they will report more detailed grant budgets at the next meeting.
