Administration presented a proposed process used previously for midterm vacancies: post the seat (position-specific) on Jan. 21, accept applications through Feb. 3, hold a work session for full-board review (date to be determined) and, if necessary, conduct interviews before appointing a replacement in February to serve through June 2027. Staff said they will publish the opening via ParentSquare and district community channels.
Board members discussed whether the full board or a committee should screen applicants; they chose to use the full board for review and to set a work-session date by email. The board also confirmed the appointed member will serve the remainder of the term ending June 2027 and may run in the next election if they wish.
