Board approves organizational resolution, coaches handbook and raises for admin/confidential staff

At its Aug. 12 meeting, the Santiam Canyon School District board approved several routine but consequential governance items: an organizational resolution required by ORS, a junior–senior high school coaches handbook, and administrative/confidential salary adjustments that reflect negotiated certified increases.
The organizational resolution, which designates chief officers, posting locations and insurance and borrowing limits, was amended to set regular board meetings on the third Wednesday at 6 p.m. and then approved. The coaches handbook was presented as a risk-reduction and policy-alignment document and received board approval. The board also formalized administrative and confidential salary placements consistent with the certified step increase; the superintendent said the 4.75% raise was already budgeted and does not change the adopted budget.
Board members voted on the motions by voice and the chair announced the items as passed; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript. The board also conducted officer elections during the same meeting (see separate article).
