The council voted to award a $76,400 civil design contract to Delmont Consultants for the North Park Avenue reconstruction project, a roughly 10½‑block rebuild between Main Street and the San Juan bypass that will replace pavement, fix drainage and curb ramps, add bike lanes and improve pedestrian connectivity.
City Engineer Scott Murphy said the design phase will begin immediately with completion targeted in early 2027 to allow bidding for a single‑season 2027 construction window. Murphy estimated the construction budget at about $5 million and explained the design will also address aged utilities and provide ADA‑compliant curb ramps and school‑zone treatments in front of the school. Councilor comments emphasized the project has been planned incrementally for years; staff will hold a public open house likely in late September to solicit design input.
