Board hears how Stanfield staff are targeting support for English learners and students with IEPs

Lisa provided a breakdown of students identified as two or more grade levels below and the services being mobilized to support them. She reported that, among 17 students two grade levels below in reading, five are on IEPs and three are recently arrived monolingual students; among 11 students two or more grade levels below, eight are on IEPs. "Those kids in red I broke down for you so that you could see exactly who those kids are and how we're identifying them," she said.
Staff described RTI (response to intervention) groupings, collaboration with bilingual/EL supports and family outreach through ParentSquare. Board members stressed patience for students new to the country, noting it may take multiple years for language acquisition to translate into grade-level performance.
No formal action was taken; board members asked for continued updates on intervention outcomes and a plan to report progress to families.
