Lisa, the district administrator, told the board the district’s midyear diagnostics show strong attendance and reading improvements. "We are above 94% in all three grade levels and actually above 95% for third grade, 94% for fourth grade, and 93% for fifth grade," she said, noting the state is closely watching K–2 attendance as an accountability marker. She credited parents, teachers and ParentSquare messaging for the attendance levels.
Lisa also presented reading diagnostic results and growth counts: the district moved 66 students into on-grade-level material and 47 students out of one grade level below. She provided a breakdown of students two grade levels below and said five of 17 in that group are on IEPs and three are recently arrived monolingual students. The district has identified interventions and individualized plans for those students.
Board members asked for clarification about thresholds and goals. Lisa said the district’s reading goal is to get the 'yellow' indicator to 22% — a target the staff acknowledge is ambitious but reachable if teachers each move two more students into grade-level material. The board praised the data-driven approach and asked staff to keep reporting progress at future meetings.
The board did not take formal action on the diagnostics beyond accepting the report.
