Commissioner Webb: RTC will redesignate $105M for projects linking DCTA and Trinity Metro to regional lines; funds contingent on cities dropping withdrawal bids

Commissioner Webb told the court the Regional Transportation Council (RTC) discussed Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) withdrawal elections and approved a concept to redesignate about $105 million of future transit funds to support two major regional projects: connecting the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) to the Silver Line and connecting Trinity Metro’s system to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. "Those 2 projects are huge projects, are very well supported by the region," Webb said, adding that the funds are transit monies the region already receives and would be redirected toward those projects.

Webb also described a separate $75 million package intended to support DART over five years and said the funding arrangement is contingent on member cities calling off their withdrawal elections by the 23rd; "It's contingent on them calling off the elections," he said. He explained the RTC would reprioritize incoming transit funds over an unspecified multi-year period (possibly 3–10 years) rather than impose a firm single-year timeline. Webb noted the change aims to create clear deliverables for the transit agencies receiving the funds.
