Collin County reports higher turnout, ongoing hand‑count audit with no discrepancies so far

Caleb Breaux, Collin County elections administrator, told the commissioner’s court the county increased its number of precincts from 252 to 273 and recorded 200,338 ballots cast in the recent primary election, with turnout split roughly 66.15% during early in‑person voting, 31.60% on election day and 2.25% by mail. "As of coming over here to court to speak to you all, we are 80 to 90% complete and have found 0 discrepancies, thus far," Breaux said.

Breaux said the county hand‑counted 20,678 ballots as part of the post‑election hand‑count audit required by recent legislation, representing about 10.32% of the ballots in the sampled precincts and polling locations. He described the ballot board as bipartisan and said the state designates certain contests and precincts for review; Breaux said the county has not yet found mismatches between hand counts and equipment tallies in the samples completed so far.

The presentation included a party breakdown of ballots cast: 104,260 Republican ballots (52.04% of cast ballots) and 96,078 Democratic ballots (47.96%). Breaux said the county will finish the hand count and report final audit results and any corrective actions if discrepancies appear. He also said the county has been collecting operational data (staffing, processing time) and can provide the court a report with those metrics on request.
