The Bedford Redevelopment Commission opened sealed bids for a proposed street department garage at its meeting at Bedford Municipal Hall. Counsel read four offers and noted alternates attached to some bids.
Counsel read the first proposal from Fox Construction Company, stating, "The amount of the bid is $3,059,622," and noted a voluntary alternate to substitute commercial solid-core prefinished red oak doors (a $23,000 deduct) and an Alternate C listed at $8,500. Counsel also read bids from Key Mark ($2,250,000), First Due Company ($2,830,000) and TNG Construction Company ($2,661,797).
After the bids were opened and read into the record, a commissioner moved "to take the bids under advisement," the motion was seconded and carried with no opposition noted. The commission took no award decision at the meeting and left the bids for further review.
Next steps indicated by the agenda and discussion: staff and counsel will review bid documents and alternates before returning to the commission with a recommendation; no timeline for award was stated at the meeting.
