At the July 23 meeting the Minersville Area Board approved a range of personnel actions for the 2025/2026 school year. The board approved multiple department chair appointments at $1,000 each, including Fred Reed (HS Mathematics), Denise Motley (HS Science), Patrick Mason (HS Social Studies/History), Maria Sweizak (HS English Language Arts) and a full list of elementary and K-12 chairs as recorded in the meeting packet.
Special education leadership appointments approved included Emily Williams (Department Chair, HS Special Education) and Johnna Spotts (Department Chair, EC Special Education), each with $1,000 stipends. The board accepted the resignation of Elaine Chupick (PT Instructional Aide) and approved new hires effective Aug. 19, 2025: Ashley Roberts (Temporary Professional Employee, HS Special Education, Step B002, $41,400), Susan Carlson (HS Mathematics, M008, $51,233), and three part-time instructional aides at $15.63/hour.
The board also approved salary step placements for Sarah Straus (to step M007 at $49,473) and Maria Spotts (to step M009 at $53,018). On administrative recommendation the board hired Richard Dry as Activities/Athletic Director effective Aug. 1, 2025 at a salary of $8,500 for 2025/2026. The board acknowledged Superintendent Michael Maley's Letter of Eligibility from the Pennsylvania Department of Education effective June 1, 2025 and authorized signatures on PDE-5529 to commission Maley as superintendent through June 30, 2027. Mr. Maley thanked the board for their support.
