Licensed-staff participants told the committee they want people on interview panels who have daily experience in the schools and opposed deciding membership by lottery. One speaker argued that those who volunteered should be included rather than randomly selected.
Classified staff representatives said their relationship with district leadership is strained and warned low trust would depress participation. A committee member acknowledged the concern and proposed reopening the classified-staff application briefly to boost participation and representation.
"The relationship with classified staff and the district is completely fractured," one classified-staff speaker said, describing reluctance among classified employees to join committee work. Committee members discussed practical steps to increase participation while preserving the process already approved March 3.
Members also emphasized that staff input should inform question design and interview preparations; several suggested mechanisms for staff who cannot serve on panels to still submit suggested questions to committee members.
