SORM reports progress on Origami implementation and pauses on private-cloud migration

Johnny Freed, interim director of project management, told the board that seven implementations were completed this quarter, 12 projects were introduced, and Origami’s phase-three statement of work for risk management had been signed pending Origami’s signature to start resourcing.

“We completed seven implementations this quarter introduced 12 projects we are currently working with Origami and scoping the deliverables for phase two which is insurance and the statement of work for phase three which is risk management has been signed,” Freed said. Board members asked about system performance and whether AI integration was planned; staff said AI features are turned off by default and the agency is not yet mature enough to enable them.

Ton Enan, interim director of information technology, reported completion of the first of three DIR-mandated cybersecurity modules and that migration to the Texas Private Cloud has been delayed by network connection work that requires coordination with the Office of the Attorney General. IT staff said they completed required internal steps but needed additional network work to ensure SORM retains administrative control of its data.
