County official: laboratory testing found no oil in local creeks after reports

Mrs. McDaniel, reading an official statement from the county judge's office, told the court that emergency management and outside agencies investigated reports of a possible oil spill near FM 1433 and in the Turkey Division Creek and Menway Park areas. "At approximately 9:32 a.m. on August the 12th, De County received the official laboratory results confirming that there was no oil," she said, and asked residents to supply any case numbers or additional photos so the county could continue follow-up.

The statement said initial reports from July 18 prompted coordinated response: the county notified Texas Parks and Wildlife and Lone Star Hazmat collected water samples submitted to a Houston lab on Aug. 3. The county reiterated that if contamination were linked to oil-field operations the responsible operator must notify the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). County staff thanked emergency-management personnel, state agencies and residents for cooperation during the investigation. No further formal action was announced.
