Prairie County extends on‑call engineering agreement with Great West for one year

Prairie County commissioners voted during the meeting to use the one‑year extension option in the county's on‑call engineering agreement with Great West, keeping services in place from the contract's expiration in May 2025 through May 2026.

County staff said the existing five‑year agreement executed May 18, 2020, includes up to three one‑year extensions and recommended invoking the first extension to “get us squared up,” which commissioners approved by voice vote. The extension is intended to cover short‑term needs and give staff time to decide whether to run a new procurement or pursue additional extensions. "We could probably do one to get us squared up and squared away," a staff presenter said during the discussion.

The board asked staff to put the renewal on the May agenda and to circulate the one‑page extension document for signatures. No dollar change to the master agreement was reported; staff said existing line items and project‑by‑project contracts will govern project work until a new procurement is completed or additional extensions are considered.
