Select Board asks policy committee to draft public process for Town Hall preservation advisory group

The Select Board reviewed correspondence from Corey Siklen on behalf of the Friends of the Town Hall asking that a committee be formed to guide the $25,000 Town Hall preservation reserve and help develop requests for proposals. Christine, a policy committee member, said the group should be posted and established like other town committees so membership and transparency are clear. "I'm a big fan of improving town hall in any way we can," she said, adding that the process should be publicized "the same way that the other committees were."

Board members generally agreed not to form or post a committee immediately. Instead they asked the policy committee to draft a proposed policy on committee formation and operation and to present that recommendation at a future meeting. The chair said the policy committee will discuss committee rules at its next meeting and suggested legal review as needed before posting. The board left the matter open for further action after the policy committee reports back.
