Tina, a staff member, delivered the board's back-to-school presentation, highlighting new learning spaces (hydroponics and robotics labs), greater vertical alignment across 4K–8 under the district's updated "portion of a graduate" framework, and a substantial expansion of student clubs. She said the district had been invited to share its POG work with state education officials after winning recognition for the approach.
"We're bringing our 4K through 8th grade teachers together to do vertical alignment in seven teams..." Tina said, describing the professional development plan designed to standardize expectations and help teachers identify what students should know and demonstrate at each grade band. She noted the district is expanding middle-school clubs from six to 17 based on student interest and will offer both morning and after-school options to meet different student needs.
Tina also emphasized ongoing safety preparations and tabletop exercises with local emergency responders, praising school nurses and safety teams for recent work. The board president thanked staff for summer preparations and noted that staff and building conditions appear ready for students' return.
Next steps: staff will continue professional development activities, finalize club sign-ups and communicate opportunities to families.
