Media Borough Council adopts Vision/Comprehensive Plan, agrees small zoning change

Media Borough Council adopted its long-term comprehensive plan on June 18, approving the document after a presentation by the plan team and a brief public-comment period.

Adam Texa, the project manager for IMAG, outlined the plan's core findings during an earlier presentation, saying, “Media is you know, increasingly becoming and really is a community of choice.” Council members praised the community engagement process and moved to adopt the Vision/Comprehensive Plan for 2035 but amended the motion to accept a planning-commission recommendation removing 'large flats' as a recommended housing type in the industrial district.

The plan frames priorities for housing, transportation, open space and economic development and identifies next steps for implementation—including traffic-calming and stormwater projects that will follow with separate, more detailed plans. Council members and staff emphasized implementation will occur through subsequent, item-specific work such as traffic calming and open-space planning rather than through the plan text alone.

The vote was unanimous on the amended motion to adopt the plan. Council and staff told residents that specific concerns raised during public comment—on bicycling networks, climate change language and pedestrian safety—will be considered during implementation work and in follow-up plans.
