Draft goal emphasizes communication, safety and school culture to support staff retention

Goal 3 in the proposed 2025–26 package asks the district to "develop and foster strong communication, and safety practices that support the district's mission and goals with all stakeholder populations" and to continue focusing on culture and climate within buildings to complement staff retention efforts. Staff member Matt Combe presented the language during the Aug. 11 work session.
Board members discussed the wording briefly and characterized the discussion as positive; the full set of draft goals, including the communication and safety focus, will be included for board consideration at the Sept. 8 meeting. No substantive changes or motions were recorded in the work session minutes.
