Enon police report lower monthly activity, plan auxiliary hire and join Blue Envelope program

Chief Weise presented the department's October activity, saying the department handled 53 calls, 12 assists with the sheriff's office, two assists with other agencies, two assists with fire/EMS, 30 traffic stops, 29 warnings, two municipal-court citations, six mayor's-court citations, four reports (including one theft), one non-injury private-property crash, 56 special details and 36 business checks. He said the statistics were down this month because staff have been occupied with a large in-house project.

Chief Weise said the department received a vehicle donation from Bo Townsen and that another department vehicle is at Jamie's Tires for a transmission repair. He said the village is considering a part-time employee to reduce overtime and that a retired officer (previously at Fairborn) applied to serve as an unpaid auxiliary officer; the village cost would be an 80-hour refresher course. Chief Weise also described the Blue Envelope program kickoff Dec. 6 — a registration/911 database and a small car sticker to help officers identify drivers with developmental disabilities — and said the Clark County Prosecutor's Office is covering startup costs for the regional rollout.
