Superintendent Aaron Duff gave the regular monthly report, noting enrollment and facility work, and previewed upcoming budget and bond-refinance steps.
Duff said the district’s current enrollment is 1,543 students, "about where we were in December," and explained how daily attendance factors into state funding. He described facilities crews’ spring projects, including laser-leveling the nearly 10-year-old softball field and additional aeration and fertilization work. He also reminded the board of budget hearing dates on April 27 and May 18 and said he and Denise will present bond-refinance options at the next meeting after consultation with bond counsel and an attorney.
Duff reported the state short legislative session produced no cuts to education this cycle but cautioned economic forecasts could change that picture; he also said KOSA will pay to send him to a July Washington, D.C., event to meet federal representatives about a pending federal security grant the district has applied for.
