Middletown WPCA approves easement at 700 Ridgewood Road to extend city sewer

The Middletown Water Pollution Control Authority voted unanimously on May 29, 2026, to approve acquisition of a sanitary sewer easement for 700 Ridgewood Road, a staff member read into the record. The measure, which the committee moved and seconded and then approved without further discussion, is intended to allow the owner of a newly constructed home to connect to the city system after a health-department determination that an on-site septic system could not be installed.

Staff read the resolution into the record and described the easement as "a 3 foot wide easement totaling 16,773 plus or minus square feet," noting an attached map dated 01/02/2026 prepared by Connecticut Land Surveying LLC and a favorable Planning & Zoning 8-24 report dated 05/27/2026. Vice Chair Papachevski asked whether the city or the homeowner would install the new main; staff said the homeowner will hire a contractor who must obtain city permits and pass inspections before the city accepts ownership of the new sanitary sewer main. The committee chair declared the matter passed unanimously after members voiced assent.
