Springdale names Kendall Sagers town clerk; staffing shortfall will pause two planning projects

A town staff member announced at the May 6 Springdale Planning Commission meeting that “after a long recruitment process … we have filled the vacant town clerk position” and named Kendall Sagers as the appointee.

Staff said the reassignment will leave the community development group with limited capacity. Nile Connelly told commissioners the shift means the department has been “depleted” and that two high‑priority efforts — the Virgin River Management Plan implementation and the storm‑water management permit project — are likely to be paused “for a little bit” until staffing improves. The staff member also proposed canceling the June 3 work meeting to ease short‑term workload pressures and suggested keeping the regular June 17 meeting.

Commissioners responded that delaying the parking counts and other data collection until late summer or the Labor Day period was acceptable if it yields better results. Staff said it would return with a revised schedule once it had time to reallocate tasks and confirm timelines.
