County adopts air‑quality regulation updates to align with state rules

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners voted July 21 to adopt revisions to the Lincoln‑Lancaster County Air Pollution Control Program regulations and standards to ensure consistency with the Nebraska Department of Environment's Title 129 requirements and to add provisions for rescinding permits for equipment that has been decommissioned or removed.

Gary Bergstrom, air quality section supervisor with the Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department, told commissioners the advisory board reviewed the changes and that the city council had approved them on July 13. "These regulations we're bringing forward to you are largely to ensure ongoing consistency with the Nebraska Department of Water, Energy, and Environment or Dwee's Title 129 air quality regulations," Bergstrom said. He also described the advisory board membership and the process that moves changes to the board of health and then to a joint city/county resolution for adoption.

No public speakers appeared during the hearing and the board moved, seconded and adopted the related resolutions by roll call. Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of the resolution, carrying the motion to amend local air‑quality regulations in line with state standards.
