Lancaster County commissioners approve claims, multiple contracts and appointments

The Lancaster County Board of Commissioners on June 30 approved minutes, routine claims and a series of contracts and appointments, moving forward several road, public-safety and service agreements.

Among the actions the board approved were the minutes from the June 23 meeting; claims and payroll amendments through June 24; multiple vendor contracts and right‑of‑way payments; appointments and reappointments to the Visitors Promotion Committee; and grant acceptances. Chair Christa Yokum presided over the roll calls. Several votes recorded abstentions where commissioners disclosed conflicts of interest.

County Engineer Pam Dingman highlighted the Pine Lake Road paving contract and said the county received unusually aggressive pricing: "I think we're probably saving about 20% of what I would have expected this project to cost," she said. Jeff Kilpatrick of Community Corrections explained a short renewal of the AIMS Specialty Court case-management contract would restore court reminder functionality and data reporting while staff seek a longer-term vendor.

The board also approved a $140,000 grant contract with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for analysis of juvenile and adult justice data; acceptance of a Justice Assistance Grant awarding $99,655 toward a narcotics investigator position; and several community‑service awards recommended by the Joint Budget Committee.
