The board approved travel for the top eight winners of the local geography event to Washington, D.C., on April 1 after the students qualify at the local round scheduled for March 10.
"They have qualified based upon their performance on March 10th to go to Washington for national competition," Superintendent Dr. Grante said when asked to clarify whether the trip is competitive. A board member later noted the trip may be a reward trip rather than a competition depending on the March outcome and recommended clarifying that point before students travel.
The administration recommended approval and the board moved, seconded and approved the student travel as presented; any final competition status and logistics will be clarified as results are known.
