Board approves claims, consulting contract and fireworks permit

Auditor Lisa Smith presented a slate of routine administrative items and the board approved each by voice vote. The board approved the minutes of the June 30, 2026 meeting and authorized the auditor’s office to publish the recorder’s claims listing in the amount of $879,474.30; the auditor noted that the claims include a roughly $430,000 road grader purchase and over $300,000 in rock invoices. "...there's about a $430,000 road grader and there's over $300,000 worth of rock in there," Lisa said while summarizing the claims.

Lisa also asked the board to authorize chair and auditor signatures on a three-year agreement with Cost Advisory Services Inc. to provide professional consulting services for fiscal years 26–28 at an annual cost of $4,450; the board approved the contract. Finally, the board approved a fireworks permit for the Great/Grave River Threshers at 99 Centennial Street for July 17, 2026 at dusk with a rain date of July 18. All items were approved by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
