The Big Spring School District board approved several student fundraisers and field trips and authorized capital reserve fund payments during its Oct. 20 meeting.
Director of athletics Scott Penner listed fundraisers to benefit student programs, including banner advertisements, jersey sales, a golf outing and a summer youth camp. The board approved the fundraisers as recommended.
The treasurer reported fund balances and the board approved payment of capital reserve invoices listed on the agenda: RL Snider Electric (amount recorded in minutes as "1920") and Drock Electric County (amount recorded as "14,225"). Those projects were noted as having been approved at the March 3, 2025 meeting. Treasurer Lisa Shade reported total district funds across accounts as $3,799,683.20.
The board also approved several student field trips proposed by Carissa Ny, middle school principal, including theater, snow tubing/skiing, horseback riding and orienteering/painting activities.
