Big Spring board elects John Wardle president; Hippensteel named vice president

John Wardle was elected president of the Big Spring School District Board of School Directors at the board nnual organization meeting on Dec. 2, 2025, and Mr. Hippensteel was confirmed as vice president by roll-call vote. The board lso sworn in newly elected or re-elected members Julie Booth, Benjamin Brown, Allison Malot and John Wardle before proceeding to regular business.

Wardle, after assuming the chair, pledged a tone of collaboration: "We will try to provide honor of unity, trust and respect as we serve in this office," he said. The board administered the oath of office for the four members who had not previously been sworn in, with the oath affirming support for the U.S. and Commonwealth constitutions and a faithful discharge of duties.

Benjamin Brown, one of the newly sworn directors, spoke to his obligation to the community and cited his prior service: "As an Air Force veteran, I took an oath of enlistment and served with honor and distinction...I will always strive to be accessible, approachable, and open to conversation," he said. The meeting closed with routine committee scheduling and announcements; the board reconvened immediately for regular business.

The organization actions are part of the board nnual process that sets leadership and committee assignments for Dec. 2025 through Nov. 2026.
