Chair Henry Miller and trustees praised the district’s communications and academic accomplishments at the Aug. 18 meeting. The board presented Mr. Jaylen Copelan, the district’s public information officer, with recognition after staff reported he earned three awards in his first full year in the role.
Dr. Tracy Swilly, director of academics, told the board the recognitions extended to school-level performance: "Tonight is a privilege to highlight some of the academic excellence happening across Fairfield County School District," she said. She noted Kelly Miller Elementary ranked second statewide for growth on the SC Ready English language arts measure and celebrated students who earned perfect SC Ready scores: Nolan Brandom (math), Callaway Hollandbach (ELA), James Reed (math) and Jordan Warren (math).
