At its Sept. 16 meeting the Towanda Area School District Board voted to adopt multiple policy updates and one new policy intended to clarify nondiscrimination, conduct and public comment procedures.
Brady Finogle moved to approve several policy revisions and a new nepotism policy; Matthew Wheeler seconded and the motion passed 8-0-0-1. The changes approved in the board minutes include Policy 103 (Discrimination/Harassment Affecting Students), Policy 103.1 (Non-Discrimination-Qualified Students with Disabilities), Policy 104 (Discrimination/Harassment Affecting Staff), Policy 234 (Pregnant/Parenting/Married Students), Policy 247 (Hazing), Policy 903 (Public Comment in Board Meetings) and Policy 304.1 (Nepotism) as a new policy.
The minutes reference attachments for the revised and new policy language; the meeting record does not transcribe the full text of the revisions. Board members voted to adopt the policies as presented in the attachments, and the motion was recorded as passing unanimously among those present.
