Gym floor work almost complete; scoreboard installation scheduled for mid-August

Towanda Elementary School's gym renovation is nearing completion, Principal Nate Ross told the Sports & Supplemental Committee on July 27.
Ross said the contractor will return this week to finish surface work; lines will be taped this week and painted next week, with time allowed for the floor to cure afterward. A new scoreboard is scheduled for installation the week of Aug. 10; the installation is expected to take three days. Ross also noted that preseason practice for fall sports begins Aug. 17, 2026.
Committee members discussed an inconsistency in how sports are recognized in the gym. Options raised included reserving space in the gym for team banners while placing individual-athlete recognition (plaques) outside the gym. The committee asked administrators to research options and return with recommendations rather than adopting an immediate policy change.
No expenditures or contract awards were approved during the meeting; the committee received status updates and direction to follow up.
