Supervisors press for receipts and oversight after $900,000 emergency-services request

One supervisor said the request presentation contained a flawed revenue projection and urged the board to require bank statements and other documentation before releasing significant funds to private squads. The board discussed governance remedies — including placing county representatives on an executive board that would oversee distribution — and signaled a preference to appropriate money to squads only after committee review and verification.

Members suggested adopting the budget and levies now to maintain county financial stability while withholding specific appropriations to squads until the finance committee and the board’s representatives verify need and bookkeeping. Supervisors also discussed potential remedies if squads do not meet agreed performance targets, including liens on property or titles as recourse if public funds are advanced to private entities.
