The Towanda Area School District Board on Aug. 19 approved a slate of policy revisions and new policies.
On a motion by Ashley Popovich, seconded by John Hennessy, the board approved Policy 222 (Tobacco and Vaping Products, revision), Policy 323 (Tobacco and Vaping Products, revision), Policy 707 (Use of School Facilities, revision), Policy 815.1 (Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Education, new), Policy 815.2 (Livestream, revision) and Policy 254 (Educational Opportunity for Military Children, new). The motion passed by voice vote, 7-0-0-2.
President Matt Tavani asked that agenda item G-6 (Policy 903) be tabled for further revision and presented at the September meeting; the board concurred during general discussion.
