The board approved hiring Lihana Rosales to a special-education teacher position. The presenter said Rosales currently works in the district as a paraeducator in the classroom she would take over and emphasized her qualifications, including prior service with the Oregon State Police and an education doctorate.
"She actually worked for the Oregon State Police for um the entirety of her career and retired out of the state police," the presenter said, noting Rosales has been an adjunct professor at Bushnell University and is completing a doctorate in education. Board members moved, seconded, and approved the hire by voice vote.
Board members clarified that certain board members who serve on the high-school board would abstain from votes where they have a conflict related to high-school positions; otherwise the hiring proceeded without amendment and administrative HR steps were implied to follow.
