An FFA student from Whitehall told the school board they will serve as Montana FFA state treasurer next year after a strong showing at the state convention in Great Falls.
"This next year I'll be serving as Montana FFA state treasurer," the student said, and reported that Whitehall teams qualified and competed in meats evaluation, mechanics and floriculture. The speaker listed five students who received state degrees: Miles McClean, Riley Randall, Braxton Walker, Hannah Fraser and the speaker. Two students won proficiency area awards and the student said both winners will represent Montana and Whitehall FFA at the national convention this fall.
Board members congratulated the students and noted the time and leadership the students invested; one member also pointed out that the speaker planned to defer college enrollment at Embry-Riddle to serve as a state officer. The student said members who served as state officer candidates were called to a back room during the convention; the student's election became official during that session.
The board recorded the student report during the public-comment portion of the meeting and did not take formal action on the presentation. The district's recognition of students' competitive and leadership accomplishments will appear in upcoming school communications.
