TRC conditionally approves Se-Scape Topeka event venue development order pending technical comments

At the August 19 Walton County Technical Review Committee meeting, staff recommended conditional approval of Se-Scape Topeka's minor development order (MIN26-000056), a Jenkins Engineering application for Se-Scape Resorts to formalize seasonal outdoor-event infrastructure on roughly 158.69 acres.

Scott Jenkins, representing the applicant, told the committee the site has operated for several years and the request would allow some temporary infrastructure to remain on-site instead of requiring removal within 30 days. Jenkins said the events anticipate approximately "5,500 patrons," which staff and the applicant said are largely accommodated on-site or within walkable distance of on-site lodging. Staff noted they were still awaiting South Walton Fire and environmental review comments but described other comments as minor and addressable; the committee moved to conditionally approve the development order pending resolution of outstanding comments.

"Yes, sir. That is that is what they anticipate," Jenkins said when asked whether 5,500 patrons was accurate. Staff asked applicants to respond to outstanding comments and obtain required fire and environmental approvals before the director issues the final development order.
