Parks department reports staff losses and missing maintenance update

Parks staff told the committee they are "on a downhill slide of the summer season starting to lose staff," citing an assistant manager resignation at "Pete" and that one employee, Sam, accepted a position with Milwaukee County Parks. The departures leave the department short-staffed going into the fall, staff said.

The committee also noted that the monthly maintenance report was not included in the packet and that Bill, the maintenance lead, was not able to attend the meeting. A member said they saw an expense report but no narrative maintenance updates for the month; staff agreed to follow up and bring the missing information to the next meeting.

The parks report described the Castro Park shop project as largely complete on the shell but possibly running over schedule because of supply delays (a garage door). Staff invited members to a site tour at Castle Rock Park after the Sept. 17 meeting. The parks report also detailed campsite counts at Pete Well Park (20 campsites total: two seasonal reservable, two month-to-month, and 16 daily/weekly) and the status of ATV/UTV overflow parking.
