Committee approves amendment to county property parking ordinance

The Adams County Property & Recreation Committee voted on Aug. 20, 2026 to approve an amendment to the county property parking ordinance (chapter 350, article 5) that reserves parking spaces at county-owned buildings for employees, visitors and county vehicles following parking-configuration changes from a Phase 2 building project. Cynthia, who presented the item, said staff provided both a marked-up and a clean version of the ordinance for review.

"This ordinance is coming before you ... in result of the parking configuration change due to the phase 2 building project," Cynthia said, noting the revision incorporates more county-owned properties while excluding solid waste, highway and parks facilities. She told the committee the amendment had been vetted by the sheriff's office, clerk of courts, maintenance and corporation counsel.

The chair recorded a motion to approve the amendment; the motion was seconded and the committee voted in favor. Staff will forward the approved amendment to the full board for consideration. The committee packet included the marked-up changes and a clean copy indicating the reserved spaces and attachments listing the affected county properties.

The ordinance affects most county-owned buildings and clarifies which parking stalls are designated for employees, visitors and county vehicles. The committee did not record a numerical roll-call tally in the meeting transcript; two members (Bronsky and Turko) were recorded as excused at roll call.
