Montana names Whitehall principal Jason Slater Principal of the Year

Rob Watson of the School Administrators of Montana announced that Jason Slater, Whitehall High School principal, was named Montana Principal of the Year and will represent the state at the national competition; the board and community offered public congratulations.
Rob Watson, executive director of the School Administrators of Montana, announced during the meeting that Jason Slater has been named Montana Principal of the Year by the Montana Association of Secondary School Principals. "Mr. Jason Slater is the uh ... high school principal of the year," Watson said, and praised Slater’s leadership at Whitehall High School.
Watson described Slater’s work as building "a culture at Whitehall High School where people come first, students feel safe and supported," and said Slater will advance to the national competition. Board members and attendees offered congratulations and requested a formal photograph; Slater did not take the floor to speak at the meeting. The board plans a more formal recognition during the January principal conference.
