Staff described memoranda of understanding with several mental-health providers to increase options for students, including autism strategy groups and supervised interns who are overseen by licensed clinicians. The staff presenter said these arrangements are intended to be cost-neutral for the district: “These are being offered at a cost um neutral for the school district.”
Officials said some services will be staffed by interns under licensed supervision, that the National Alliance on Mental Illness has engaged with the district (the local executive director is a Hartford resident), and that referral may occur through the student services office or directly by parents. Board members welcomed multiple provider options to meet varied student needs.
